Queensland's policy on the use of hydrocarbon refrigerants clearly spelt out by Minister Lynham

14 October 2020
Queensland's Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy, Dr Anthony Lynham, has clearly spelt out the state's policy on the use of hydrocarbon refrigerants, in response to a petition to parliament by One Nation calling for a change in the regulatory approach.  The petition accused  the Queensland government of being heavy-handed and claimed that hydrocarbon refrigerants were being widely used in all other states and territories, with an excellent safety record. Refrigerants Australia provided additional information and context about the state's regulatory approach. In summary, the Minister said the Queensland legislation was proven by the lack of reported incidents and the support of many associated industry bodies. The Queensland public has access to approved hydrocarbon refrigerant appliances and the government provides the appropriate level of industry oversight to maintain public safety.
